Whenever we talk about global climate crisis and learning about climate changes then predominatly and widely used two following terms for the same meanings:
1- Climate Change
2- Global Warming
Knowingly or unknowingly these terms are used interchangeably in many conversation, however these terms have two distinct meanings.
What Is Climate Change?
According to United Nations Climate action, " Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns".
Change in sun activity or large volcanic eruptions, these shifts can be natural. However, since the 1800s, human activities are mainly key driver of climate change. Primarly, following are the main reasons for change in climate:
a. Burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.
b. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide and methane.
c. Gasoline for driving a car or coal for heating a building.
d. Clearing land and cutting down forests releases carbon dioxide.
e. Agriculture, oil and gas operations are major sources of methane emissions.
According to onetreeplanted organization, due to climate change it has been seen that rising global temperature is the major part of climate change, however, there are many other impacts, including:
a. Higher ratio of Biodiversity Loss
b. Rapidly higher the ocean levels, temperatures, and acidity
c. Due to rising temperature Melting ice of sea and mountain glaciers
d. More frequent and intense natural disasters which are
(i) forest fires,
(ii) hurricanes heat waves,
(iii) droughts,
(iv) floods,
(v) precipitation
e. Predominate changes in ecosystem characteristics such as
(i) growing seasons,
(ii) flowering times,
(iii) bird migrations
What Is Global Warming?
The weather events are getting extreme in number and in intensity all around the globe. It is evident to get solution of climate crisis. How to get the real solution, we must know the basics of global warming. NASA defined as Global warming:
"Global warming a long-term heating of Earth's surface, which has been observed since the pre-industrial period (1850 and 1900) due to human activities wihch has increases the heat tapping green house gas levels in earth's atmosphere".
If we get analysis and according to United Nations Climate Action, human's are mainly responsible for global warming.
In a series of UN reports, thousands of scientists and government reviewers agreed that limiting global temperature rise to no more than 1.5°C would help us avoid the worst climate impacts and maintain a livable climate. Yet policies currently in place point to up to 3.1°C of warming by the end of the century.
Measure Actions To Stop Global Warming And Climate Crisis:
To improve the Earth's Lives and Protecting the enviroment, there are many climate change solutions can deliver the economic benefits.
In this regard, global frameworks and agreements to guide progress are already working on it, such as the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. Climate action requires significant financial investments by governments and businesses. But climate inaction is vastly more expensive.
One critical step is for developed countries to support developing countries so they can adapt and move towards greener economie. Subsequently, this action will be a great favor to our beautiful earth.
According to UN there are three broad categories of action are: cutting emissions, adapting to climate impacts and financing required adjustments.
